Northern Denmark has the right facilities for the wind turbine industry’s operators. First and foremost 80 active companies who are direct suppliers to the wind turbine industry or sub-suppliers to larger manufacturers in the industry.
The region has a transport infrastructure that is easy to access. Fast and easy access to airport and highways. Aalborg Harbour disposes of a massive area, with railway, cranes and good road connections to the wharf. Shipments using the harbour’s cranes include blades, towers and nacelles or other components up to 1,200 tonnes. From the harbour there is also outsourcing of office facilities with data and telephone services, a reception, cafeteria, medical building, etc.
The world’s largest blade factory and test centre, as well as one of the world’s leading suppliers of foundations for offshore wind turbines are located in the area. Aalborg University produces research and highly educated labour for the wind turbine industry. A series of technical schools and specialists with generations of know-how and experience from the region’s shipyards and major industries also provide well educated, specialised labour in the industry.
Aalborg Municipality is characterised by its long-standing close cooperation with the business world and by good and effective business services.
Theatres, major concerts and one of Denmark’s leading art museums are just some of the cultural offerings of the region’s largest city, Aalborg, which also has a zoo. The city is known as one of Denmark’s leading centres of entertainment.
